Rent a Kayak at CBEC
Kayak Rental Season Runs April 22 – November 1, 2023
The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center has much to offer the water enthusiast! With our ideal location on a peninsula, we offer visitors kayak rentals to glide around Marshy Creek to enjoy the serenity of the Bay. The CBEC property is amazingly biodiverse– from ospreys and eagles to river otters and sting rays–you’re sure to spot a variety of wildlife on your paddling excursion. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
Very Important: We will not rent kayaks if the weather service has issued a small craft advisory or thunderstorm warning. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to check the weather before you leave your house. www.weather.gov
Waivers
WAIVERS are necessary for renting all water recreation equipment and can be brought with you or obtained at the Visitor Center when checking in. Sanitation procedures are in place for all equipment after each use and we will do our best to mitigate exposure. However, by signing the wavier you knowingly assume all risk. Make sure you are physically fit enough to perform your own self-rescue if need be. Remember to bring a dry bag, enough liquids, sun protection, bug spray, snacks or whatever else you need to enjoy your paddle.
WE STRONGLY PREFER YOU MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENTS ONLINE BY CLICKING THE BUTTON BELOW TO EXPEDITE YOUR CHECK-IN PROCESS.
When you arrive, please check in at the visitor center and you will receive further instructions from staff and/or volunteers. You are welcome to bring your own life jacket, paddle and/or seat if you have them and prefer to use them.
*Updated Membership Kayaking/Paddleboards Policy (5.29.22)
Due to high demand, CBEC has implemented a new policy regarding CBEC-member kayak rentals. Individual Members may reserve 2 vessels and Family Members may reserve 3 vessels of any combination (singles/doubles/paddleboards). If you require more than your membership allotment, the fee is $10 per vessel. We ask that you reserve in advance. Thanks for your understanding as we’re making every effort to get everyone out on the water in a safe and timely manner.
