Kayaking

The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center has much to offer the water enthusiast! With our ideal location on a peninsula, we offer visitors kayak and canoe rentals to glide around Marshy Creek, the Narrows and Prospect Bay viewing wading birds, waterfowl and acres of marsh and restored shoreline.


KAYAK RENTAL SEASON RUNS FROM MAY 1st - NOV 1st


A waiver is necessary for renting out all water recreation equipment and can be brought with you or obtained at the visitor center when checking in. Our equipment is first come, first serve. Please call 410-827-6694 for reservations!

Free kayak use for members.  If you plan on kayaking often, consider purchasing a membership!

 

Kayak Rentals:

$15/vessel/day.  Last rental goes out at 3pm.

 

Kayaking Details:

Please check in the visitor center to sign the release waiver and grab a water trail map. We will hold your drivers’ license to make sure you made it safely back. Please remember to be back to the visitor center by 4:30pm with your paddle and life jacket to receive your drivers’ license.  We’d appreciate your help in bringing your kayak back to the rack area.

 

Very Important: We will not rent kayaks if the weather service has issued a small craft advisory or thunderstorm warning…so it is YOUR responsibility to check the weather before you leave your house.  www.weather.gov

 


 

Guided Kayak Tours for 2013

Kayak tours will meet at the Visitor's Center for equipment pick up.  All equipment is provided.  Kayaking will be led by Courtney Leigh, Conservation Manager. These tours are open to all ages and levels of skill.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  The cost for the tour is $10 (members) and $15 (non-members).  Pre-registration is necessary by contacting cleigh@bayrestoration.org.
