CBEC is teaming up with Coastal Water Tours for six exciting boat trips, April through September 2026. Four trips will observe birds from our local waterways, and two will be sunset cruises with beverage tastings. Birding trips are $75 per person, while sunset cruises are $95 per person.
With only 25 spots available on a 45-passenger pontoon (yes, there’s a bar and bathroom on board!), there will be plenty of room to relax and snap incredible wildlife or sunset photos. Just bring your curiosity and a sense of adventure.
We depart from Coastal Boat Cruises, docked behind the Hyatt in Grasonville.

Nesting Status: Yes or No?
Assessing the same nesting sites in Osprey Alley, the boat will stop at each platform or channel marker, and we will observe if the site is in progress on the nesting cycle timeline. We will investigate a range of behaviors, from building through incubation.
Tuesday, June 23, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Confirmation: All Ages and Stages
Our third and final pass of our osprey observations will result in the satisfaction of learning whether the productivity of the local birds is greater in 2026 than in 2025. With the decline of the ospreys’ resources, their population is also decreasing. This float-by will give us the number of hatchlings, their stages of development and a sense of the health of the young.

Birding from the Edges
Back by popular request—another boat ride adventure. Whether you’re a seasoned bird enthusiast or just looking for a memorable evening on the water, Birding the Edges is a “heat of the summer” chance to witness nature in action. We’ll cruise through the scenic waterways of Kent Narrows and Chester River and along the shores around CBEC’s peninsula to check in on what birds we can observe from the water.
If you are into birds, bring your binoculars. If you’re not a birding enthusiast, join us anyway for a floating evening at sunset. There’s plenty of room to relax and snap incredible wildlife or sunset photos. Just bring your curiosity and a sense of adventure.

Sunset Cruise and Tastings from New Zealand
Step aboard and enjoy an evening on the water. See the sun set while tasting acclaimed wines and cheeses, some from an island nation far from Kent Island, New Zealand. A sommelier will speak about the distinctions of New Zealand wines while we savor these pairings to remember!

Sunset Cruise and Tastings from Germany
As an “equal opportunity tasting,” CBEC has scheduled a beer drinkers’ special. We’ll cruise and taste four top-of-the-line German brews accompanied by appropriate (surprise!) nibbles. From the calm waters of Kent Narrows and the Chester River, we will also observe any wildlife happenings as they are settling down for the evening. Fun as we all head into fall.
