The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC) spans 510 acres of vital habitat within the Chesapeake Bay, serving as a key conservation area and public access point. This diverse natural space includes tidal marshes, fields, shallow waters and open aquatic environments, offering essential ecosystems for a wide variety of fish, birds and wetland-dependent species. The waters surrounding CBEC host a designated oyster sanctuary, while the coastal marshes and submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) beds act as critical nursery areas for fish, crabs, oysters and other benthic species.
