You and your furry friend will enjoy our beach and four miles of hiking trails! Pets six months or older with current membership and vaccinations are welcome to explore CBEC during weekends throughout the year. Pets are welcome at CBEC’s picnic pavilions, and dog sanitary stations are located around the property for your convenience.

To bring your dog or dogs to CBEC, you must be a member AND purchase a dog membership for each pet.

Please note dogs must be leashed on a six-foot leash at all times, except for swimming off leash at the beach area only. No long or retractable leashes are permitted. If education programs are in progress at the beach, dogs must remain on leash for the safety of all. We regret dogs are not allowed inside the visitor center, at education facilities or within 10 feet of birds of prey exhibits.

Dog Rules at CBEC

  • Check in with your pet at the visitor center immediately upon each arrival at CBEC.
  • All dogs must be healthy, currently vaccinated and collared.
  • All dogs must display a CBEC pet membership ID tag visible on their collars.
  • All dogs must be leashed and under control by their owners/handlers at all times.
  • Owners/handlers must immediately clean up after their dog(s) and properly dispose of waste in designated receptacles to ensure a sanitary environment for all guests.
  • Dogs in heat, or puppies under six months of age, are not allowed on the CBEC grounds.
  • Pets may accompany owners/handlers on kayaks or canoes at the owner’s risk. In the interest of safety, CBEC suggests lifejackets for our canine “boaters.”
  • CBEC is not responsible for injuries to dogs, their owners/handlers or other visitors.
  • Please report any problems or abuse of dog rules to the visitor center or office to help us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
  • A dog owner who does not follow the rules will receive a verbal warning. A total of three violations will result in the owner’s dog(s) no longer being allowed at CBEC.
